Construction in Wardline Road Area

Long-awaited drainage improvements are coming to the Wardline Road area, but the construction phase, which begins Tuesday, will mean traffic delays for motorists in that area.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the Wardline Road improvement project begins on Tuesday, Dec. 18 and will impact those areas between Randall Road and Rufus Bankston Road.

Now accepting comments on Metropolitan Transportation Plan

The Regional Planning Commission for Tangipahoa Parish is accepting public comments on the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for the projected urbanized area throughout Tangipahoa Parish. This is a drafted plan proposing goals and objectives to address transportation needs over the next 25 years of future growth for our parish. The plan provides a blueprint of strategies designed to achieve a safer, more livable community concerning transportation.

AMITE---Tangipahoa Parish Government's Litter Abatement program will hold its final recycling event for 2018 this Saturday, Dec. 8, for residents to drop off their recycling materials in Roseland and Hammond.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the recycling program is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the TPG public works offices on US 51 in Roseland and on W. Pleasant Ridge Road in Hammond. 

North Baptist Road rail crossing will be closed Dec. 12 and 13

AMITE—A rail crossing in the Baptist area will be closed for two days next week as Tangipahoa Parish Road and Bridge crews complete two major cross drain replacement projects on the east side of the parish. 

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller said the rail crossing at North Baptist Road will be closed for improvements on Dec. 12 and 13. No traffic will be allowed through the crossing during this construction period. Signs will be posted and detours will be in effect during this two-day closure, Miller said.
